Ganesh School Stands Outstanding Public School in Nepal

13 Sept, 2016. Ministry of Education, Nepal celebrated 37th National Education Day and 50th International Literacy day on September 8 by awarding scholars and various academic institutions from secondary schools to campuses for outstanding academic performance. 


Kaski-based Sitala Devi Secondary School was selected as outstanding school among community schools across the country. The school was awarded with national shield, certificate and Rs 200,000.Okhaldhunga-based Baruneshwor Secondary School from eastern development region, Bharatpur-based Narayani Model Secondary School from central development region, Baglung-based Ganesh Secondary School from western development region, Mugu-based Guru Secondary School from mid-western development region and Kailali-based Nawajyoti School from far-western development region were selected as outstanding schools at the regional level.

In a criteria developed by Ministry of Education to select outstanding schools across the country, Ganesh School obtained 78.75 and stood 3rd outstanding school across the country. Sitala Devi School obtained 80.62 and stood first. Similarly, Baruneshwor Secondary School obtained 70.08, Narayani Model Secondary School obtained 80.32, Guru Secondary School obtained 67.66 and  Nawajyoti School obtained 69.73.The best performing school was awarded with national shield, certificate and Rs 200,000 and other schools were awarded with national shield, certificate and Rs 100,000.

"We made it. We proved that Quality Education is Possible in Public Schools" says Dhurba Shrestha the ex student of Ganesh School and the close ally of School. Ganesh School first appeared in SLC in 2065 and since than the school is performing best across the region. Currently 690 students study in this school. "Once school was deserted and there were hardly 100 students" says Ms Subarna Shrestha, the ex head master. The dedicated teaching staffs, committed school management committee, supportive parent teacher association and helpful parents made this possible. School now delivers quality education through child centered teaching approaches and use of Information and Communication Technology. "This is the result of day night work of all the key players of school. We are thankful to teaching staffs, School Management Committee members. members of the Parent Teacher Association, and parents." says Mr Narayan Shrestha, the chairperson of the School Management Committee.
